Living in Arlington, there’s definitely no shortage in local food that may not be the healthiest of options. From great burgers to gourmet snacks to tasty desserts, we have free reign over whatever we want, whenever we want.
If you decide to clean up your diet a bit, chances are you know you need more fresh fruits and vegetables and you know where to get them from. But where do you go when you want all-natural and healthier meat? We’re glad you asked!
Located at 2001 W. Mayfield Road, Farm to Fork was born out of the desire to fulfill a personal need many of us can relate to.
Krista Grant was in search of a healthier life for her and her family. She was fed up with the limited options her local grocery store presented through processed food and fatty meats. Krista wanted to feed her two kids healthy and all-natural foods. That desire led her to contact local farmers and ranchers. Relationships were established and as a result, Farm to Fork, a co-op selling all-natural foods at affordable prices (or as their motto goes, Real Food For Real People), began.
Customers can purchase high-quality local grassed fed or grass-finished Angus beef and bison, grass-fed longhorn beef, pork, chicken, and seafood. On occasion, raw honey and olive oil along with other foods are available.
Farm to Fork prepares an order form with available foods about two weeks prior to order deadline. Orders are taken 1-3 times a month. You can choose to pick up orders from their main location on Mayfield Road, or from one of their remote pick up locations in Allen, North Fort Worth, and Oak Cliff. It looks like they may be adding Southlake soon, according to an recent inquiry on their Facebook page, so keep your friends in other cities in mind.
Additionally, unlike some Co-ops, there are no membership fees or repeat order expectations with Farm to Fork, which saves you money and keeps you from feeling pressured to order when you may not have a need.
We think one of the best things about Farm to Fork is the personal attention they put in to ensure customers have the best experience. Farm to Fork stringently evaluates local producers to ensure they are getting the best of the best. They are also amazingly active on their blog and Facebook page which they use to provide updates on product availability, order and pickup dates. They also will hit you with a giveaway from time to time!
I don’t know about you but I’m glad we have people like Krista and her family here in Arlington working hard to provide a resource so many would have to travel out of the city to experience. If you’ve been thinking about getting a little healthier or been searching for all-natural meats and foods, be sure to patron Farm to Fork and tell ’em thanks for making Arlington a healthier place one order at a time.
