I know one thing for sure.
Arlington loves food trucks!
Each time we announce the Arlington Parks & Recreation Department’s Food Truck Friday events, you guys go crazy (in a good way, of course).
As you probably know, these events have been going on for a couple of years now. Typically, they’ve been hosted in downtown Arlington, River Legacy Parks and Stovall Park.
You may also remember Texas Food Truckin’ Fest, an annual event held at Globe Life Park in 2013 and 2014. It was recently announced it will not occur this year. The announcement did hint at an “exciting event” coming soon with no further details.
Although the majority of residents love the seasonal events, there’s one thing we always hear — why don’t we have food trucks in Arlington all the time?
As we’ve come to expect from our community, the responses were both passionate and diverse. Here are a few of the most popular comments (by # of comment likes):
Not just yes, but h*ll yes. – George H.
Perhaps move it around to different parts of the city. Might become stagnant over time if in same area all the time. – Donna S.
Yes! But maybe make it a set day/time and move around to different parks every week. We went to the Friday night ones at Stovall park several times and loved it. – Tonya B.
Yes!!! And free wifi! – Caye G.
Yes, there are plenty of people in Arlington that can eat at restaurants and the food trucks. I love the ones at (Klyde) Warren Park I go have lunch there at least once a week. – Maria R.
As you can see above, some of the more popular comments on this topics supported the idea of making food trucks in Arlington more of a permanent fixture.
Although the comments indicated plenty of support for food trucks in Arlington, there were a few commenters that didn’t agree. Here are a few of those comments:
No…….Defeats the purpose of having restaurants around the area. – Tammi G.
No, I don’t think it would be successful. – Donna D.
I have yet to eat off a food truck where the food was any good or not over priced…so I say No! – Steve C.
